Recently I didn’t have much time to blog about SCOM because I am very busy doing some really cool projects and I also needed to prepare for the 70-246 “Monitoring and Operating a Private Cloud with System Center 2012” exam. I took the exam today and passed . According to my transcript I am now a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert for Private Cloud or MCSE: Private Cloud.
As you might know Microsoft is reinventing the MCSE certification. Years ago MCSE meant “Microsoft Certified System Engineer” and it provided a very good foundation of knowledge to work in a Windows Server environment. After that, for some reason they changed the certification naming to MCITP “Microsoft Certified IT Professional”. One of the goal was to provide some certification which will show immediately express your specialization of your skills.
And today MCSE is back but it is called “Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert”. You can also earn an MCSE in several specialized fields like Windows Server 2012, Private Cloud and SQL Server 2012. To find out more go here. There is one huge difference to the certifications before – you must renew your certification every 3 year.
If you would like to get some more information about the Private Cloud certification path and exam reviews I highly recommend to start here:

I think Microsoft is making progress in providing a solid and meaningful certification path. Keep it up guys!
