Sometimes there are small changes that can make you happy. In the field of monitoring you always get questions about dashboarding and presenting the monitoring data. Although the Azure portal dashboard has still some missing features like full screen and refresh interval feature. In terms of tiles it got some additional improvements. I am very happy that we can now pimp the Azure Log Analytics query tiles!
How? Well I’ll show you. As you know you can run a query like this in Azure Log Analytics…
…all you data (free space on all C: drives) gets nicely presented. If you click onto the pin icon you will see your dashboard where you are able to attached this chart…
If you cannot see any dashboard, make sure you share your dashboard in advance…
As soon you pinned your Azure Log Analytics tile you will be able to resize, edit and refresh it within the portal…
…or just smaller…
…then you are able to edit the query…
…or any meta data…
…and if you need a data refresh click here…
This works for Azure Log Analytics and Application Insights tiles. Well done Microsoft!
If I may suggest to the Azure Portal team that it would be very cool to have an option to make the portal full screen and refreshing on a configurable schedule (without showing sidebar, headers etc.)
As you can see every day we get new improvements in Azure!
