SCOM 2012 – Microsoft Case Study

As a German motto is “Do good and talk about it!” In this post I will follow this motto. Last year I had a chance to realize a System Center Operations Manager 2012 project for a leading milk processor company located in Switzerland and certain parts of Europe. This project has been a very interesting in terms of size and technologies used. Because of that, Microsoft Switzerland and of course the customer Emmi agreed to make a SCOM 2012 case study out of it.

Together with my well respected fellow MVP Marcel Zehner CEO of my company itnetx we build a monitoring platform which allows the customer to centrally monitor Windows servers, Linux servers, VMWare, storage and network devices. Here some short facts about the monitored systems count:

  • 600 Windows server
  • 120 Linux servers
  • 350 Network devices
  • 50 VMWare hosts

In addition to SCOM 2012 we are also using System Center Orchestrator 2o12 for automation of tasks and processes. If you would like to know more about this project you can download the case study here.

There is one downside, this case study is only available in German.
